Lana is into Music

Music is one of the things that our little Lana loves. She sings a lot of songs and has probably over 20 songs (maybe a lot more) in her memory including, “Dancing Queen”.

Some of the songs she likes to sing are:
A, B, C, D
Ang Pusa (The Cat)
Baa, baa Black sheep
Elmo’s Song
Head and Shoulders
Jack & Jill
Makulay and Buhay (Knorr Ad Song)
Mr Sun
Polly put the kettle on
Ring, a ring, o roses
Row, row, row your boat
Sally Go round the Sun
Twinkle, twinkle
Wiggle Songs

…and heaps more. A new addition is the “Go Away, Big Green Monster”.

A few weeks ago, my sister sent her some DVDs with Tagalog songs and she likes watching them. Sometimes, she would watch them twice or thrice a day! I think it’s a good way to learn another tongue. I’d like for her to be bilingual so when we go for a visit in the Philippines, she is able to converse with her cousins.

My Little Poot-poot* in her “My Little Pony” Boots

I don’t think I was spoilt when I was a kid but certainly my lovely Lana is being spoilt by us.

I’d like to buy her little pretty, adorable, girly stuff like hair clips, fun toys, crayons and a few weeks ago, I bought her a “My Little Pony” rain boots.

She likes to play in the puddle so Daddy thought I should buy her a pair. They’re just very pretty in glittery pink and they were the last ones in the shop. They are about $15 and are still a bit big for her little tootsies but Lana adores them.

She used them the other week when we went on a picnic in Lake Cairn Curran and she was very delighted to have her little boots on.

*Lana’s unique pet name. I say unique because it’s a sound from a handheld horn not a name of an object.

Lana's Library

Lana wants a story.” That’s what Lana would usually say when she wants us to read a book for her. I usually ask her to get a book that she likes me to read. We don’t have a reading corner at home but she likes to sit on my lap and we would read together. I usually point at the words so she knows what I’m reading. She likes to point at the pictures and say things like, “What’s that, Mummy?” or “ “Look at that!”

We’d like her to be enthused in reading books. She’s probably has more than 80 books at home. A recent addition is "The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh", which was purchased a couple of weeks ago for about $27.
She’d like to get the books herself and flip through the pages. Sometimes, when we get home, she would go straight to the lounge table (where I usually leave a couple of books) and ‘read’ them.As Lana’s first literary teacher, I’d like her to read different stories (and if possible in another language). We’re not up to the ‘ever after’ or the ‘princes and princesses’ stories, yet. She’s more into picture books or really short stories. She doesn’t have a favorite, either as I show her all kinds of books to make her interested in all kinds of things like animals and ‘everyday’ things that she can see around her.

She does bring small books in the car to read while I’m driving. I swap them with other books from time to time so she doesn’t get to read the same books. Hopefully, she still likes books when she grows up.
All of her books are special as they came from different people and been given on different occasions. The book above is extra special since it was signed by the author herself, Maria Rigoni - a lovely gift from her Aunty Jan.

It’s fun to read with her. Reading time is also our bonding time!
