Lana's Home Routine

Russ said he and Lana had the best day today, as she was very good all day. She didn’t grizzle and just played with her toys or with Dad.

She really is a good girl. When we’re at home, she’s always happy and you can tell when she’s tired or need a sleep because she’ll grizzle to let you know that she needs a rest and needs to be put to bed.

Here’s Lana home routine on a typical weekday:

7am – She wakes up when I wake up and I give her her bottle straightaway so I can get myself ready. When her bottle is finished, she’ll watch her favorite sing along songs in the computer with Daddy.

8am – She waves and kisses Mummy goodbye as she goes to work. It’s funny but she blows kisses even if your face is right next to her. She knows that Mummy will get in the car and drive away but she will come back in the afternoon again. She knows that she will stay home with Daddy.

9am – Daddy gives her breakfast/morning tea. I usually get her breakfast ready before I go to work. If the weather is good, they will go out to go for a walk otherwise they just play in the house. She also watches ABC Kids when she’s got her favorite shows on.

10am – She usually has her morning nap at about this time. Sometimes for an hour or two. Daddy usually tells her to sleep on her tummy on her cot and then she sleeps instantaneously.

12pm – Lunch with Daddy. I usually prepare and label all her food the night before so Russ will only need to heat them up if they need to be reheated. He would know which container is for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea or whether she will have it with cow’s milk or not. Even her water bottle is ready for her to drink. We usually put her water bottle on the coffee table where she can simply reach it every time she needs a drink.

2 or 3pm – She has her afternoon nap at about this time for about an hour or two. In between those times she’s not eating or sleeping, she keeps herself amused! That, I guess is her only agenda everyday – to play!

5pm – Russ said that at about this time, Lana starts to look for me by saying Mama and car. She’s been anticipating my arrival. She probably starts to be aware that Mummy will be arriving anytime soon.

5.45pm – Mummy’s arrival! She would be waiting by the window looking at me to get off the car. I can see her giggling and calling 'mama' and couldn’t wait for me to get in the house. It’s so nice to see her all happy and really excited once I give her a cuddle. She wouldn't let me go and she would lay her head on my shoulder as if saying, ‘Oh, it’s so good that my Mummy’s home!”

6.20pm – I would play with Lana until it's time to cook dinner. If Russ has cooked dinner or if he’s cooking, Lana and I would be playing till before 7pm.

7pm – Lana will have dinner with Mum and Dad. She likes to drink water, too. She babbles and sings and talks to us while eating her food that either Mummy or Daddy cooks. She has the same food as we have for dinner.

8pm – She has a bath at about this time. Sometimes, I let her play until she gets grizzly then I give her a bath. She plays in the kitchen talking to her reflection in the oven door while I gather the dishes to wash. We also put her toys away for the next day so she will get the idea that toys need to be put away before she goes to bed. Right after she’s clothe, I comb her hair and sing, ‘this is the way, we comb our hair” song. She loves it!

8.30pm – Daddy puts her to sleep. They play first on the bed while she tires herself out. Sometimes I could hear her giggles from the bathroom. Sometimes, Daddy will sing to her or they will look at her book. At this age, she points at the pictures in the book and says "moo", if it's a picture of a cow. I also usually have a shower about that time and do the dishes afterwards.

10pm – By this time, Lana is fast asleep – on her tummy. I will be busy in the kitchen boiling water, steaming her feeding bottles, her meals and getting them ready for the next day. I also get her clothes to be worn for the next day laid out on her chair so I don’t have to worry about what she’s going to wear the next day. I also put away the washing that Russ did for the day and before 11pm, I should be in bed watching TV or sleeping. And another day will begin….
