The paperwhite narcissus is the December birth flower. Legend states that after Narcissus died, Apollo turned him into the flower narcissus. Paperwhites are grown from bulbs and are native to the Mediterranean. They are very fragrant flowers and are frequently given as gifts at Christmas.
The paperwhite narcissus is a cousin to the daffodil flower. This flower is easy to force bloom indoors. The strong scent is either loved or hated. The paperwhite is the only narcissus variety that does not require a cold and dark period to bloom. The paperwhite is the most popular variety of narcissus. This flower means that the recipient of the paperwhites is sweet.
Thanks to everyone who sent in their birthday greetings via email, text messages, phone and via the Friendster site. I also got a surprise call from my aunt in HK. I wasn’t expecting that she would remember my birthday.
As always, my best friend in Dublin is the first one to greet me. Also, a big thank you to my husband’s family for always remembering my big day! The birthday greetings certainly made my day!
We didn’t go out for dinner to celebrate but ate a home-cooked meal instead. We might just invite some friends over for lunch on the weekend.
It's my first birthday with my little girl and yes, it’s a very special one.
